In all honesty, 32GB of RAM is overkill for a lot of use cases, though it’s becoming more and more common.
It’s venturing into RAM that a beginner Server needs but, on the other hand, it does future-proof one part of your PC.

Is 32gb RAM overkill?
Is 32GB overkill? In general, yes. The only real reason an average user would need 32GB is for future proofing. As far as just simply gaming goes, 16GB is plenty, and really, you can get by just fine with 8GB.
Is it worth upgrading from 16gb to 32gb RAM?
Going up from 16GB to 32GB doubles your cost from around $60 to $120 (at current market pricing). For most people, 16GB is probably OK, but if you’re a power user like me, more RAM is more than worth the cost, because you’re literally paying to get some of your time back.
Is 32gb RAM overkill 2019?
Probably not. For most of you, 16GB is going to be the sweet spot and this is what we recommend. For today’s latest games 8GB is out, 16GB is the sweet spot and 32GB remains overkill.
Is it worth to upgrade RAM?
Adding additional RAM to any laptop generally increases power consumption by a measurable (if small) amount, but this shouldn’t be an issue for most users. It’s also better to have a bit too much RAM than too little, as whatever you gain in power savings you’ll promptly lose to increased disk paging.
Do I need 32gb RAM for streaming?
Will have practically no difference just for streaming. Streaming takes barely any RAM and you got plenty of it for streaming with 16GB. For streaming alone 32GB would make no sense. Only if you do RAM heavy tasks on the side it would be beneficial and no, games don’t count as that.
